LCF Law Group Advises on Acquisition of Renovated Wind Turbines for a 9 MW Wind Farm Project in Ukraine

28.04.25

The Energy&Projects practice at LCF Law Group, led by Partner Ivan Bondarchuk, jointly with Senior Associate Yevheniia Sudarikova, has successfully provided end-to-end legal support for acquiring renovated wind turbines previously operating in France. These turbines will be used in the construction of a 9 MW wind farm in Ukraine.

The team’s involvement covered all transaction stages — from structuring the deal and drafting the contractual framework to assisting in negotiations, aligning final agreements, and advising on equipment import matters.

Ivan Bondarchuk commented:

“This project is set to become one of the first commercial wind energy developments in Ukraine utilizing renovated turbines, with electricity intended for direct market sale. It is a strong example of the shift towards distributed generation. As this model scales, we could see dozens of local wind farms supplying energy directly to nearby consumers.”

He further emphasized that the project’s specifics brought a number of challenges for the legal team:

“Throughout the drafting and negotiation phases, it was essential to strike a balance between project budgets and timelines, while addressing the expectations of the future operator and sellers regarding the extent of renovated equipment and warranty obligations tied to equipment delivery.

We are proud to support the growth of renewable energy in Ukraine and contribute to investment initiatives that strengthen the country’s energy independence.

We look forward to sharing more project details and client information as soon as the project is made public.”
