eyeWitness to Atrocities: an IT-tool for securing damages redress. Online conference
For more than 100 days already, the whole world has been witnessing war crimes and crimes against humanity committed by russia in Ukraine. The business of our country also suffers significant losses – production sites are being damaged, stocks are being stolen, infrastructure is being destroyed, and hundreds of millions of expected revenues are lost. One of the key steps for ensuring damages compensation in the future is documenting evidence already now.
The eyeWitness to Atrocities application, developed at the initiative of the International Bar Association, has been successfully used for several years now to document war crimes around the world.
On June, 14, the eyeWitness to Atrocities project, together with the American Chamber of Commerce in Ukraine, hеld an online conference “eyeWitness to Atrocities: an IT-tool for securing damages redress”.
The event was supported by LCF Law Group, Ukrainian Bar Association, and EU Project Pravo-Justice.
The speakers talked about:
– The importance of properly documenting evidence of damages inflicted as a result of crimes, so that to secure compensation in the future;
– Features and benefits of the eyeWitness to Atrocities app;
– Possibility to use photos and videos recorded through the eyeWitness to Atrocities app in courts at the national and international levels;
– Practicalities of using the app based on Ukrainian cases.
