LCF Law Group Helps in Reconstruction of Apartment Building in Irpin
Today, Ukrainian business fights on the economic front of our country. Continues to produce products and provide services, pays taxes and salaries, supports employees and their families, and helps to rebuild infrastructure. In October 2022, LCF Law Group, among other initiatives, founded the charity project “ROOF – reconstruction of houses damaged by the war .”
The first object of restoration is 140 apartment building #42 on Davydchuk Street in Irpin. It was built in 2016 and became a home for refugees from Luhansk and Donetsk regions and Crimea. More than 300 residents lived here, including 60 children.
In March 2022, the russians fired incendiary shells at the house. As a result, the roof and upper floor were burnt entirely. The fire spread to the apartments; some were utterly destroyed.
After the de-occupation of Irpin, the residents began to rebuild their homes. They dismantled the burned remnants of the roof, protected the house with a temporary tarpaulin shelter, and started collecting funds to construct the permanent roof. Through their efforts, UAH 2.2 million were collected. It was enough for the first stage of the reconstruction. However, according to the contractors’ estimates, UAH 6 million is needed to build the new permanent roof and more than UAH 20 million to renew the entire building.
LCF Law Group, in cooperation with Charitable Fund Glory to Ukraine, joined the reconstruction financing. Additionally, to tell the story of the house and its inhabitants, we involved numerous partners on a volunteer basis. The communication agency “PR House” spreads information about residents’ needs in the mass media. The project’s landing page was created by the “JetBrain” agency, which specializes in website development and digital promotion. Photographer Taras Hegelsky has joined the project to shoot the renewal process and film the building inhabitants’ stories.
For the moment, the progress of the reconstruction is evident. The first funds enabled constructing all wooden frames, installing a hydro-barrier membrane, and purchasing metal roof covers. In addition, plenty of internal work is done to restore the ventilation. Thus, the reconstruction of the house continues, but the funds are limited.
Financial aid is urgently needed to finish the work and allow people to come back home.
